Dental Procedure FAQs

Most patients should schedule dental exams and cleanings every six months to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Our Onslow County dental office also offers preventive services like fluoride treatments and sealants for extra protection.
Dental implants are a long-lasting solution for missing teeth. If you have a healthy jawbone and gums, you may be an ideal candidate. During your consultation, we’ll discuss whether implants or implant dentures fit your needs best.

Office Policy FAQs

We offer standard office hours throughout the week but are closed on weekends and federal holidays. Please contact our front desk team to find out what our first available appointments are, and we can also put you on a cancellation list; as appointments become available, we can call you to offer you an appointment time. Once you’re an established patient, we will schedule your six-month cleanings for you while you’re in the office, and if you should need a filling, root canal, or cosmetic dentistry procedure, we can typically schedule that within a week or two.

Our insurance billing team members will bill your dental insurance company for all covered services your insurance provider allows. Please keep in mind that your arrangement with your insurance company is yours alone, and we can never promise any amount that’s certain to be paid by your insurance company. You will likely be responsible for any amount not covered by insurance.

We are happy to send a pre-authorization request to your insurance company on your behalf; when we get that back (typically in a week or two), we will notify you as to what your insurance company has indicated it will pay for a service you need. At that time, you can decide whether you’d like to proceed with the dental treatment our dentists have recommended.

That’s a great question that is a bit difficult to answer. We are open Monday through Friday, but unfortunately, not all dental emergencies happen during office hours. For this reason, we make it easy to reach us via voicemail or online through our website contact form. The dentists at Family Comprehensive & Cosmetic Dentistry in Jacksonville offer an emergency phone number to existing patients, and we will contact you and get you into the office for an appointment at our first available opening.

If you are bleeding excessively, suspect an infection, or are experiencing unrelenting pain, you may need to seek assistance from an urgent care or hospital emergency department to provide immediate relief. Please keep in mind, however, that only dental offices are fully equipped to handle dental emergencies, so please contact us as soon as you can, and we will do everything in our power to get you into our office as quickly as possible.
