Dental Procedure FAQs

We provide the following services, and we have described certain procedures available under each main type of service. For instance, we provide dental exams, teeth cleaning, dental sealant, fluoride treatment, composite fillings, and tooth extractions under general dentistry. If you don’t see a service on our website that interests you, please ask our front desk team or send in a question using our online contact form.

We use composite, not amalgam (metal) fillings, to repair teeth with cavities. Our composite fillings are also perfect for replacing old metal fillings that have fallen out or have disintegrated over time. Tooth-colored composite fillings are also used to repair:

  • Chipped teeth
  • Broken teeth
  • Discolored teeth

Composite fillings also fill gaps and protect exposed gum surfaces from gum recession.

After a thorough exam and evaluation of your current dental health, our Jacksonville dentists will be able to ascertain if you’d make a good candidate for professional teeth whitening, which is a simple, non-invasive procedure that has transformed thousands of smiles from lackluster to stunning in just a few treatments. With some patients, tetracycline and fluorosis stains are difficult to bleach; in those situations, our dentists can usually recommend alternate treatments to improve the appearance of your teeth.

Since professional teeth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, we have to see which teeth will respond well to whitening agents. Since teeth whitening is not permanent, a touch-up may be recommended to keep your smile looking white and bright. Some of the most common dental questions we get are about professional teeth whitening because who doesn’t want a dazzling smile that will light up a room?

Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin sheaths of tooth-shaped porcelain and other materials that are individually crafted to the shape of each tooth to hide flaws by covering the front surface of the teeth. They are long-lasting, durable, and do not stain, which makes them a top choice for our Jacksonville, NC, cosmetic dentists.

Office Policy FAQs

We offer standard office hours throughout the week but are closed on weekends and federal holidays. Please contact our front desk team to find out what our first available appointments are, and we can also put you on a cancellation list; as appointments become available, we can call you to offer you an appointment time. Once you’re an established patient, we will schedule your six-month cleanings for you while you’re in the office, and if you should need a filling, root canal, or cosmetic dentistry procedure, we can typically schedule that within a week or two.

Our insurance billing team members will bill your dental insurance company for all covered services your insurance provider allows. Please keep in mind that your arrangement with your insurance company is yours alone, and we can never promise any amount that’s certain to be paid by your insurance company. You will likely be responsible for any amount not covered by insurance.

We are happy to send a pre-authorization request to your insurance company on your behalf; when we get that back (typically in a week or two), we will notify you as to what your insurance company has indicated it will pay for a service you need. At that time, you can decide whether you’d like to proceed with the dental treatment our dentists have recommended.
